Steak Barbecue at the Bremerton Yacht Club

As reported in the last newsletter the next meeting is a Steak Barbecue at the Bremerton Yacht Club on September 17, 2005. Overnight guest moorage will be available. An afternoon outside informal barbecue will commence at 3:00 o'clock PM in the picnic area adjoining the clubhouse. The Club will furnish the steaks with barbecue sauce, baked potatoes with sour cream, coffee, plates, cups, and plastic ware. The attending members are encouraged to bring salads, deserts, beverages and horderves. In the event of bad weather we will have dinner in the clubhouse. RSVP to Don Sherwood at 360-479-6532 or e-mail shardon4@comcast.net for both dinner and moorage reservations. Any former Monk Club members will be most welcome to attend this dinner meeting. Call and tell a former member about the dinner. (No dues Required) Call it a reunion time.

Cruise 2005 and Event Schedule

No Cruise or Events have been scheduled beyond the Bremerton Dinner. The Balance of 2005 and 2006 are open. Please if you have a suggestion and are willing to sponsor a club event call Mike Butler now. It just might happen. The cruise and event schedule will be discussed at the meeting.

Summer Cruising Reports

Summer Cruising Reports are due at the meeting and will be graded. Prizes for the Farthest traveled, Most days at sea, Most Interesting, Farthest anchor Drag, Worst Screw UP, (Like running aground) Largest Repair Bill and other catercory we can dream up. Proof must be furnished to claim prize. Your word won't do.

Mike and Betty went cruising the Misty Fjords near Ketchikan., George and Becky and Dick and Jean went to Glacier Bay, Gene and Elaine are cruising North of Vancouver Island and Larry & Martha spent two seasons cruising all over Southeast Alaska. I know others have cruising reports. Be ready to tell all, all.

Heavy plank, Displacement hull. This Alaskan Veteran is powered by two reliable

v drive diesels. 400 fuel, 300 water and 38 holding provides long range. Cruise

speed is 8 kts. @ 4 gph. Inventory is to large to list. Three years and 3,500

hours of work, repair, refurbishment and upgrades make this vessel ready to

1968 Westshore Monk - 44 ft -M/Y LEE ANN Asking $157,000. See pictures on Club Boats Page of website. Top row third from left. The top has been extended in the later pictures. This very well cared for Monk design trawler has been the home for its present owners for a number of years. The continued maintenance shows in all areas in-spite of repeat traveling on the West coast from Los Angeles to Alaska. Forward is the converted v-berth to a large double berth and ample storage. Two steps up aft leads to the galley with a Kenmore dishwasher, 14.CF refrigerator- freezer, a Princess glass top range, Delta sink fittings to the double sink. The galley is painted white. Aft the galley the head with electric macerator with fresh water conversion, 40g holding tank, along with the major plumbing,12g hot water tank, and shower stall. The main salon is three steps above the galley, on the port side are the console controls aft of which are two recliners, a hi-lo teak drop-leaf table and a Flex steel full sized sleeper sofa, chart area and multiple storage units. Aft again to the cockpit which ha s a custom hardtop and can be fully enclosed by canvas side panels. In the cockpit is a Bendix Quite-line washer dryer, and the entrance to the engine room and lazarette which contains the 5KW Northern Lights generator, Hart 2500 inverter, battery banks, mufflers, boat spare propellers and storage. The engines are Detroit 4-53N's and cruise the boat at 12kt/12gph at 2600rpm and 7kt/5gph at 1900rpm. Fuel 350 gallons, water 125 gallons. Webasco diesel hot water furnace suppling heat for the boat heating system when not using the engine heat or shore power. Dingy and outboard. Owner has full detailed maintenance logs and guarantees all systems are in working order. The boat is ready to go now without added work to be done.
